EX-CSO of Microsoft China
I’d like to introduce a key PR guy of Microsoft China. His name is Alex Peng. He used to work as the Chief Strategic Officer of Microsoft China.
What Happened After He Left Microsoft China
According to Alex’s LinkedIn, he left Microsoft China in March 2020. After that, Microsoft China suffered a few public relations events
- Bing.com was occasionally blocked since early 2020
- Bing’s Autocomplete feature was blocked in China in 2021
- LinkedIn China was shut down in 2023
I used to believe that CSO of Microsoft China was useless. However, I changed my mind after these PR events happened.
Red Generation Background of Alex Peng
According to Baidupedia, Alex Peng is the grandson of a super-famous sacrificed Red Army solider named Sister Jiang (江姐). Sister Jiang’s story appears in a few Chinese textbooks and she is a national hero because of her brave behavior against Japanese soldiers in World War II.
Red generation background is extremely important in China because the Red Army is one of the most important forces which helps CCP win the China Civil War. It’s much easier to work with government and get special authorization from the government if you have one of the members of the Red Generation.
